NHTSA identifies two battery recalls and one brake recall for the 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric. A lithium-ion battery short circuit may increase the risk of a fire, including a short circuit that may occur after the vehicle is fully charged. The battery campaigns call for software updates, battery inspection, and replacement when necessary; one campaign also advises parking outside and away from structures until the interim repair is complete. A separate Integrated Electronic Brake issue may significantly reduce braking performance, lengthening stopping distance and increasing crash risk. Do not wait when a recall may affect fire protection or braking performance; schedule an appointment for a free VIN check.
