Defect
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Genesis Coupe vehicles manufactured December 12, 2008, to June 11, 2016. The electrical harness connector for the front passenger seat Occupant Classification System (OCS) may dislodge when the seat is moved.
Consequence
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, the disconnected OCS would, by default, cause the first stage, and only the first stage, of the air bag to deploy, whether there is a child seat in the front seat and the bag should not deploy or if the crash is severe and both stages should deploy. Either scenario increases the risk of injury to the front seat occupant.
Corrective Action
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from disconnecting, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 2, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 151.

5 common questions answered
NHTSA recall campaigns associated with the 2015 Hyundai Genesis involve concerns that can affect fire safety, braking-related awareness, vehicle information, tire integrity, shifting, air-bag deployment, and propulsion. An ABS electrical short could cause an engine-compartment fire. A missing parking-brake warning or incorrect instrument display could increase crash risk. Tire sidewall cracking could lead to rapid air loss, while a transmission concern could allow unintended movement. Air-bag and rear-suspension issues could increase injury or crash risk in specific circumstances. Waiting leaves a potential safety concern unresolved. Check your VIN promptly, follow any manufacturer safety guidance, and schedule service if your vehicle has an open campaign.
Coggin Deland Hyundai provides authorized recall support for drivers in DeLand, FL, and nearby communities.
